Q: Do you accept quilts for Quilts For Kids?
A: Yes, we do! We do ask you to follow these guidelines before you donate your quilt: Size and pattern information can be found at www.quiltsforkids.org 1. All quilts should be sewn and quilted on a MACHINE. Please, no hand-tied quilts. 2. SIZE: Crib or lap. You may decide the exact size, but the easiest dimension is 40X45¿. 3. PATTERN SUGGESTIONS: Crazy quilt/flying geese/strip piecing/log cabin/fence rail or medallion. Whatever makes your heart sing. Follow directions if you recv¿d a kit. BATTING: Use only ONE thin layer of LOW LOFT 1/8¿ ¿1/4¿ thick, cotton or poly. BACKING: We use a larger piece of fabric that coordinates with the front patchwork, or Several sample sizes that can be sewn together for a back. Use a lot of quilting please. THREAD: Cotton or Polyester thread is fine to use on the quilts. DO NOT USE ANY INVISIBLE THREAD. Invisible Thread is not heat resistant and it is not recommended for industrial dryers. Remember to CHECK FOR PINS! 4. LABEL: A label makes the quilt personal. Please SIGN and sew on all four sides of the BACK bottom of the quilt. Please do NOT tuck the label into the seam or sew on front of quilt. 5. Wash and dry, and place the quilts in a clean plastic bag prior to shipping so that it is ready to be gifted. 6. FILL IT WITH LOVE! It really does shine through. 7. DO NOT ADD EMBELLISHMENTS! The quilts should not have buttons, long strings, loops, sequins, rhinestones or other things that could cause choking hazards! 8. Please include your name, address, and phone number with your quilt.
